Through the Lens (TTL) Style Dental Loupes

What is a Dental Loupe?

dental loupesA dental loupe is a magnifying device used by dentists to better visualize the entities within oral cavities in order to better diagnose, for example, to determine how far a crack proceeds along the surface of a tooth. Dental loupes are also used in order to perform on a more precise level; while dentists drill teeth on a millimeter scale, magnification can enlarge the dentists' view of the teeth, perhaps making it easier to inspect teeth for decay and/or see things that ordinarily would not be seen without magnification. Because dentists use both of their hands while performing dental procedures, dental loupes are binocular and usually take on the form of a pair of glasses.

Through the Lens (TTL) Dental Loupes

A “Through the Lens” dental loupe is glued to the front of each lens of the glasses. Q-Optics Custom Through the Lens style Dental loupes feature the exact same style of telescopes as the flip style, but these systems are custom made to align to the users facial features.

Four Point Ergonomic Customization for TTL Optics:

  • Working Distance — Focal distance is set to within ½ inch and a telescope is selected to provide the most comfortable seating position.
  • Interpupillary — Telescopes are set at the same width as the user’s eyes.
  • Telescope Angle — Angle is set to accommodate both the facial features and working distance
  • Telescope Height — The dental loupes are set higher or lower in the frame lens to allow the user to view through the center of the telescope.

Why do dental professionals use a Through the Lens Dental Loupe?

Having a comfortable dental loupe is important as most dental professionals spend up to 90% of their time during procedures wearing a dental loupe. When dentists select a dental loupe, they must consider light transmission, depth of field and field of view. Compared to their flip style counterparts these Through the Lens loupes will be on average 10 grams lighter and provide about ½ inch larger viewing area as the telescopes are closer to the eye giving a dentist a much wider field of vision.

TTL dental loupes are custom made. Other companies offer custom dental loupe systems but Q-Optics custom loupes are uniquely designed and built with ultra strong and lightweight materials. They come with a premium Titanium frame at no extra charge, and they feature a virtually indestructible frame lens. While other companies charge for cracked frame lenses if the dental loupes are dropped, Q-Optics guarantees these loupes for life against cracked frame lenses.

Prescription service is available.
